How to Submit Sitemap in Google Search Console

📌 How to Submit Sitemap in Google Search Console (Beginner Guide 2026)

If you have a blog or website, submitting a sitemap is very important for SEO.

A sitemap helps Google understand:

  • Your website pages

  • New blog posts

  • Updated content

Let’s learn how to submit it properly 👇

🔍 What Is a Sitemap?

A sitemap is a file (usually XML) that contains a list of all your website URLs.

Example:

https://yourwebsite.com/sitemap.xml

It tells Google:
👉 “These are my website pages. Please index them.”

🛠 Step-by-Step: Submit Sitemap in Google Search Console

Step 1️⃣: Open Google Search Console

Go to:

👉 Google Search Console

Login using your Gmail account.

Step 2️⃣: Select Your Website Property

Choose your blog/website from the dashboard.

If not added yet:

  • Click “Add Property”

  • Verify using DNS or HTML method

Step 3️⃣: Go to “Sitemaps”

On the left menu:

Click 👉 Indexing → Sitemaps

Step 4️⃣: Enter Your Sitemap URL

In the box:

sitemap.xml

OR (for Blogger):

sitemap.xml

OR (WordPress default):

sitemap_index.xml

Full example:

https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

Step 5️⃣: Click Submit

After clicking submit:

✔ Status will show “Success”
✔ Google will start crawling

That’s it ✅

📌 Sitemap for Blogger Users

Since many beginners use Blogger:

If you use Blogger

Your sitemap is:

https://yourblogname.blogspot.com/sitemap.xml

You don’t need any plugin.

📌 Sitemap for WordPress Users

If using WordPress

Your sitemap is usually:

https://yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml

If you use SEO plugins like RankMath or Yoast, sitemap is auto-created.
